Rediscovered - Episode 16 - He Bearly Got Me
With my newly forged saw finally in hand, I’ve unlocked the sacred gates to the kingdom of carpentry and countless wooden wonders await! And one of the first of these is leather production. Yes, leatherworking: the noble art of dunking hides into suspicious barrels of bubbling and foul smelling chemicals while trying not to spill any of it on you.
Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly in this realm. What should be a simple task… such as “gather limestone,” will likely spiral into a chaotic scavenger hunt involving rogue wildlife, broken tools, and at least one existential crisis. I fully expect detours, disasters, and possibly a dead end… hopefully not a literal one. But hey, that’s half the fun!
Meanwhile, the dream of a fortified house still looms large. Our current abode? A charming dirt shack with all the elegance of a compost heap. If I can make even a dent in that upgrade, I’ll consider it a win. So come along, brave soul. Let’s conjure some magic, dodge a few disasters, and try not to die in the process. It’s going to be a ride.

- While shaping the chisel, I mentioned that it looks like a lollipop, but then again… maybe you don’t have those in your neck of the woods, or you call them something different.
- As I was getting ready to start forging the shears, I told the blacksmith and Hoss story from an episode of Bonanza.
- This got me to thinking and talking about old TV shows, including Green Acres and I Dream of Jeannie.
- When I was rushing home to prepare for my battle with the grizzly bear, I mentioned phasers and shields.
- As I marched off to my doom, I mentioned Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd. I also mentioned the Highlander franchise.
- I think the bear should replace the Energizer Bunny.
- The term “B-2000” is an homage to the T-1000 from the Terminator Franchise.
- I talked a little bit about brown and grizzly bears in real life.
- When I mentioned the “fire brigade”, I really meant, “bucket brigade“.
- While talking about burning calories while playing video games, I mentioned Summer Games from Epyx.
- Sidewinder controllers were produced by Microsoft.
- I mentioned the Serene Seasons and Hourglass mods for Minecraft. I also mentioned Mojang.
