Rediscovered - Episode 17 - It's Moving Day!
At first, survival was a daily soap opera: scavenging for berries like a starving raccoon, dodging wolves with the grace of a startled chicken, and sleeping in a dirt box that screamed “prehistoric chic.” Stoneworking followed, where I banged rocks together until something vaguely useful emerged and I felt like a caveman discovering fire… because I pretty much was. Then came the metalworking and I felt like a sophisticated citizen of the world… that still happened to live in a dirt box.
But today… oh, today is a whole new chapter. Not just “new,” but “better.” I’m upgrading from my rammed earth mansion to a real home… or at least the basement of one. It is a place with walls that don’t whisper wind secrets at night, storage that doesn’t require spelunking, and a roof that actually keeps the rain out. I’m talking space, style, and the sweet scent of civilization. I’ve officially leveled up from “feral hermit” to “respectable villager.” Mostly.
Of course, this glow-up isn’t instant. It’s not like the game handed me a golden key and said, “Congrats, you win.” No, it’s more like, “Here’s a hundred new problems wrapped in a slightly nicer box.” But hey, progress is progress. And today? Today is a glorious day in our Vintage Story saga. Come join me on the adventure!

- While talking about the pros and cons of living in a dirt box, I brought up the story of the Three Little Pigs.
- While talking about balanced game mechanics, I brought up the generation of electricity in the game, Icarus.
- This led to me talking about the exocraft of No Man’s Sky.
- As I talked about my own compulsiveness, I made some comparisons to Dr. Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory.
- When I was thinking out loud about cozy games, I mentioned Tiny Glade.
- I mentioned Cap’n Crunch and Crunch Berries cereal. “Milk does the body good” comes from this.
- As I pondered the size of the world, I eventually said that the world was 10,000 kilometers across. I was wrong by an order of magnitude. It is 1,000 kilometers across… which is still freakin’ big for the survival mechanics in this game.
- While I talked about buffets, I mentioned Golden Corral and the Lady Luck casino by name.
- As I ran back and forth to fill the barrel for our limewater, I mentioned that I was a one man bucket brigade.
