Our attempts to have a breeding pair of chickens has failed so far.  Survival is not at risk, but it would be a whole lot easier and more comfortable with eggs for breakfast every morning.  Unfortunately, I can’t run around and focus solely on finding chickens… so I will need to multitask.  I will be ready for the chickens if or when I encounter them, but in the meanwhile I need to keep preparing for winter.  I need a lot of firewood… both to keep warm during the snowy months and to stockpile charcoal for extended metallurgical operations.  Plus, cutting down the trees at the edge of the forest will give me grreater visibility and awareness of where the bears and wolves are.  So there is no real downside unless you are a bear, a wolf, or a tree.
